Maternity
Maternity
The maternity period is special but can also sometimes be a challenging time. There is a lot on your mind after giving birth; your body has gone through a big change and there is a little Practical things that need to be arranged. But also a period in which you have to get used to having a new person in your family. While you, the mother, still have to recover. To make this period as pleasant and peaceful as possible for you, it is important to think together beforehand about how you want to spend this period. During the consultations with your midwife we also pay attention to this.
Arranging maternity care
After giving birth, the professional care of a maternity nurse is indispensable. She will support you and your family during the first period. She does this in close cooperation with our midwives.
During your pregnancy you register yourself with a maternity care organization. We can really reccommend “De Kraamwolk”. They provide natural maternity care. The maternity nurses look at who you are as a person and what is important for you and your baby. This way of working fits seamlessly with our midwifery care.
As there is a huge shortage of maternity care nurses we reccommend you to register as soon as possible.

After 6 weeks you and your partner and your baby come for a last consultation. We will go over the course of the delivery again and, if desired, explain the possibilities for contraception. If desired, we will do a pelvic floor examination and teach you how to massage your pelvic floor yourself. We also give you exercises to make the muscles of your pelvic floor strong again.
Healthy pelvis after childbirth
Sometimes the pelvis needs some extra care after childbirth. IPT (Integral Pelvic Therapy) is a very gentle method of restoring balance to this vulnerable area. By releasing physical, energetic, emotional and mental blockages, the body’s self-healing ability is addressed and natural balance and vitality can be restored.
Are you experiencing one or more complaints such as:
- Sagging of bladder and/or uterus
- Involuntary urine leakage
- Little to no feeling in your pelvis
- Trauma in the pelvic region
- Severe menstrual pain
- Chronic inflammation
- Pain during intercourse
- Vaginismus
If so, an IPT session can certainly be helpful. In addition, we also have a pelvic floor physical therapist on staff.
