Pregnancy
Personal guidance during your pregnancy
Being pregnant is special but also exciting experience. We do everything possible to relieve you. So that you can relax and enjoy as much as possible!
First appointment
The moment you know you are pregnant you can make an appointment for the first appointment. We schedule this around 8 weeks. You will then be given an extensive intake and assigned your team of 2 or 3 midwives. All (follow-up) check-ups are with one of these regular midwives.
Extended consultations
Each consultation lasts about 45 minutes. During the consultation we take the time to get to know each other, discuss your wishes and what is needed at that moment for a happy and relaxed pregnancy. We also look ahead to the delivery. Of course we also do the standard medical checks. If you feel comfortable, you can also have an ultrasound with us. In total there are about 10-12 consultations. Of which one at your home, at the end of your pregnancy.
On average, we see each other:
- Up to 26 weeks every 4 weeks
- Up to 32 weeks every 3 weeks
- Up to 36 weeks every 2 weeks
- from 36 weeks to delivery every week
Care tailored to you
In addition to medical checks, we tune in to your personal needs. Every woman, every pregnancy is unique. So is our care. What do you run into during pregnancy? Not to mention: How is your partner experiencing your pregnancy? Does he/she have any questions he/she is running around with? Giving birth is something you do together. That is why it is so important that your (birth) partner is also involved in the whole process.
Unique: Integral Pelvic Therapy
During pregnancy, one 2-hour IPT session is included in counseling. Integral Pelvic Therapy (IPT) is a holistic form of pelvic therapy, in which the balance in the pelvis is restored through external and internal massage techniques. The pelvis is an area where (unconsciously) much tension and stress is stored. By giving attention to this area during pregnancy, we see in practice that fewer interventions are needed during childbirth. The integration of bodywork makes our pregnancy counseling unique!
Ultrasounds during pregnancy
During your pregnancy, you will be offered multiple ultrasounds at Dana Center. With an ultrasound, we can see if the heart is beating and if your baby is growing nicely. You can also have medical ultrasounds like the 13 and 20-week ultrasound done at Dana. However, it is not mandatory to have an ultrasound. However, sometimes it is desirable to have an ultrasound with an ultrasound technician to look at your baby in the belly. Or maybe you’re just curious about your baby. Medical ultrasounds are usually covered by your health insurance. On-demand ultrasounds are at your own expense.
